Intent to Teach: Perspectives from Pre-Service Agricultural Education Teachers

Historically, less than two-thirds of all newly certified agricultural education students enter the school-based (SBAE) teaching profession. Teacher educators must understand preservice teachers’ intention to teach help fulfill demand for SBAE teachers. This study examines motivations consider a career in eight Oklahoma State University pre-service teachers early, mid, and late stages their teacher coursework. Qualitative methods were employed describe these individuals’ SBAE. Interviews artifacts form participant autobiographies collected analyzed.
